The Family Behind the Name
The name “Ajaa” is not just a word, it is a family.
It is formed from the first letters of the founder’s most beloved people:
Every letter carries a life. Every life carries a love.
That love is the foundation of everything we do here.

A Message from Our Founder
“My journey toward establishing Ajaa Home began in childhood. Educated in a convent boarding school, I was taught that true fulfillment comes from serving those in need.

Over the years, life shaped me through many roles and responsibilities as a wife, a mother and a professional yet the desire to serve the elderly never faded.
During frequent visits to Sri Lanka, I witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by seniors who were abandoned or lacked proper care. One unforgettable moment was when a 95-year-old woman approached me seeking help to obtain a National Identity Card so she could open a bank account. That moment reaffirmed my lifelong calling.
Ajaa Home is not just a residence, it is a promise to provide dignity, protection and love to those who once cared for others.”
~ Judy Arulrajah, Founder ~
Our Story
Ajaa Home began not with a building but with a vision.
In 2020, our founder Judy registered Ajaa Multiple Services in Ariyampathy, offering counseling and community based support to individuals across various age groups.
As her work deepened, so did her awareness.
During frequent visits to Sri Lanka for her husband’s medical treatments, she witnessed something that she could not ignore. Elderly individuals living without care, without shelter and without anyone to turn to.
In the Kalmunai region of the Ampara District, there was no dedicated Senior Home. Not one.
That absence became her calling.
The Moment That Started It All
One afternoon, a 95 year old woman approached Judy with a quiet, simple request.
She needed help obtaining a National Identity Card so she could open a bank account. It was a small ask. But the weight of it was enormous.
In that moment, Judy saw not just one woman but thousands of seniors across the district, living invisible lives, forgotten by systems that were meant to protect them.
That afternoon, her childhood vision shaped by the selfless sisters of her convent boarding school became a mission she could no longer delay.
